Hi! My name is Ben and I’m a former Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admissions at Duke University. During my tenure at Duke, I reviewed thousands of applications from domestic and international applicants and helped to expand Duke’s outreach and recruitment of students from low-income communities.
Before joining the Duke admissions staff, I taught U.S. History and AP U.S. History at KIPP Pride High School in Gaston, NC. My former students, a majority of whom are the first in their family to attend college, currently attend or graduated from a wide-range of universities including Princeton, Duke, Morehouse, Penn, UNC Chapel Hill, Howard, Yale, among others. Having worked on both sides of the college admissions process, I absolutely love working with students during the college search process and look forward to exploring your options with you and helping you present your true self.
When I’m not working with students, I enjoy any type of physical activity but have a strong affinity for endurance events. There’s nothing I love more than to start my weekend by running or biking for hours on end and then not being able to move for the rest of the day. I’m obsessed with cooking and travel shows, and often try to replicate these in my own kitchen. Though I love to cook, my girlfriend is significantly better and only allows me to put ice in the glasses.
