I have spent most of my 30-year professional life working in college admissions for highly selective colleges: Hamilton (NY), Oberlin (OH), Bryn Mawr (PA) and Swarthmore (PA). Over the years I developed various areas of admissions expertise but half of my career was spent working with international students from around the world. I also have extensive experience working as a college counselor for private high schools.
My love for this work stems from my own background — I am a first generation college attendee who, without the help of a caring counselor, would never have attended college at all. Instead, with the help of that one person, I ended up attending a university to study Engineering (not for me!), then transferred to Smith College (MA). I learned not only how important higher education is in general but the value of finding the right fit between an individual and a college.
This year a moved across the country from Pennsylvania to live in California. I love walking my dogs on the beach every day, watching all types of sea life in the bay, and exploring my new hometown (and state). When not working, I love movies, music, and hiking. Though I miss being able to watch Pennsylvania sports teams regularly (go Steelers!) the trade off has been worth it.
