Stories Behind Our UK University Results

Read on to find out more about how our hardworking students built their profiles and received acceptance letters from these top institutions.

Student J, Student M, Student X, and Student H, The University of Cambridge

We're thrilled to have four students accepted to the University of Cambridge!

  • Student J from Guangzhou
  • Student M from Shanghai
  • Student X from Shanghai
  • Student H, studying internationally

With their chosen courses in Mathematics, toPsychology, and Economics, we are proud to have worked with such talented students across such a wide range of academic interests.

Student T, Student P, Student E, and Student G, The University of Oxford

We’re absolutely thrilled to have four of our students accepted by the University of Oxford

  • Student G from Shanghai, accepted to Keble College, Oxford for Ancient and Modern History
  • Student E from Australia, accepted to St. Hugh’s College, Oxford, for Economics and Management
  • Student T from Beijing, accepted to Wadham College, Oxford, for Oriental Studies (Persian)
  • Student P from Shenzhen, accepted to Brasenose College, Oxford, for Fine Art

After the long journey of candidacy building, academic achievement, course selection, personal statements, UCAS forms, entrance exams and the daunting Oxford interviews, we are proud to see our students’ hard work pay off.

Above everything else, all four students were able to demonstrate passion and intellectual curiosity for their specialist academic areas, far beyond the confines of their school curriculum and traditional academic definitions - from bringing together history, journalism and literature, to getting hands-on with the economics of agriculture.

Student A, Student J, and Student T, The London School of Economics

Our wonderful UK university results continue! Three InGenius students have already been accepted to the London School of Economic and Political Science (LSE). While LSE has not yet released most offers, we've received word about:

  • Student J from Guangzhou, who has been accepted for Psychological & Behavioural Science
  • Student A from Beijing for Management Sciences
  • Student T from Shanghai for Philosophy, Logic and Scientific Method.

LSE is world-renowned as a specialist university for social sciences.

Currently ranked 4th overall in the UK, LSE is ranked 1st for Social Policy, 3rd for Philosophy and Politics, 5th for Accounting and Economics, and 6th for Law.  This is all supported by the British Library of Political and Economic Science, which is the largest social sciences library in the world. A unique aspect of LSE’s curriculum is the requirement that all undergraduate students, irrespective of their major, take a module simply known as ‘LSE100: The LSE course’.  This two term, 20 week module focuses on two case studies of significant social phenomena, with a wide range of tutors and lecturers helping students explore the case studies from different, interdisciplinary perspectives, helping students develop critical, cross-disciplinary thinking.

Student T, Student C, Student G, Student R, and Student N, Student E, Student E, and Student W, The University of Edinburgh

We have 100% success with Edinburgh so far! Based in the Scottish capital, the University of Edinburgh has a long history; founded in 1582, it is the 6th oldest university in the English-speaking world. It has five main campuses spread around the city, including many buildings in the old town. Entrance to Edinburgh is competitive - the university receives the second most applications of anywhere in the UK, and is ranked 16th in the UK for the academic credentials of successful applicants. Edinburgh currently places in the top ten for 21 subject areas, including 1st place for Social Work, 3rd place for Asian Studies, 4th for Education, and 5th for Medicine.

We’re proud that Student T was able to bring out his academic prowess and intellectual curiosity in his application. We are also excited that Student C has been accepted to the University of Edinburgh for a four-year undergraduate MA in History and Art History!

More successful offers from Edinburgh have arrived - Student E from Shenzhen has been accepted for Engineering, Student E from Wuxi for Psychology, and Student S from Vancouver for Economics with Environmental.

Big congratulations to Student G from Shanghai, Student R from Chengdu and Student N from Singapore!  These three fantastic students have been offered places for a diverse range of subjects, ranging from Environmental Science to Economics to History with Classics. Congrats to all of them on their UK university results 2019-2020!

Student J, The University of Birmingham

We’re thrilled that Student J has been accepted to the University of Birmingham for a BSc Mathematics!

Based in the UK’s second-largest city, Birmingham offers one of the most diverse and dynamic study environments, with over 22,000 undergraduates and nearly 13,000 postgraduates. Ranked 13th overall, the university offers a wide range of majors, as well as playing a central role in the city’s cultural and business scene. Birmingham’s Mathematics department ranks 14th in the UK, placing 1st for student satisfaction among all the UK’s elite universities.

Student J worked with his InGenius counsellors to build on his success in math competitions, turning this expertise into a popular STEM club to train the next generation of competition winners. Outside school, we arranged for Student J to pursue university-level research, supervised by a Georgia Tech professor, which led to a range of research papers. Student J’s passion for Mathematics came through clearly in his application and impressed the admissions committee. Congratulations to him!

Student G and Student T, The University of Birmingham

Just in time for the traditional Scottish festival of Burns Night, we’re thrilled to announce two more offers for the University of St. Andrews, both from Shanghai: Student G for MA History, and Student T for MA Philosophy!

Both these courses are St. Andrews renowned four-year undergraduate masters, offering a rare combination of both academic breadth and depth. This course structure is underpinned by the teaching quality and reputation of the university ranked 3rd in the UK, while also ranked 4th in the subject rankings for both History and Philosophy.

So next weekend, as well as celebrating the poetry of Scotland’s most famous poet, Robert Burns, our students will certainly be celebrating acceptance to its most famous university!

Student M, Student R, Student J, Student J, and Student W, UCL

More great news:

  • Student W from Wuxi accepted to University College London for Psychology
  • Student M from Singapore accepted to UCL for Environmental Sciences
  • Student R from Chengdu has been accepted for Economics and Statistics
  • Student J from Shanghai for Mathematics and Physics
  • Student J from Guangzhou has an unconditional offer for Psychology

UCL is truly one of the world’s top universities.  Having started teaching in 1826, it vies with Durham University for the honor of the third-oldest university in England; what’s for sure is that UCL was the from its inception, UCL was the first university in the UK to accept students irrespective of their religion and beliefs.  Nowadays, it is the UK’s second-largest university, with 38,000 students, supported by 7,000 academic staff and 840 professors - the most teaching staff of any UK institution. Unusually, UCL has slightly more postgraduates than undergraduates, demonstrating the depth of its ongoing research work.

Currently UCL ranks 10th in the UK, with 25 subject areas within the top 10.  Student W has the opportunity to study in one of the very best Psychology departments, ranked 5th in the UK and linked to UCL’s academic health science centre - the largest hospital-based health sciences department in the world, which has been influential in many medical innovations, such as the discovery of hormones.

Student P, Student M, and Student Y, University of Manchester

Our UK offers keep on coming, with three more offers for the University of Manchester.  Student Y in Shenzhen has an offer for Physics, while Student H, studying internationally, has an offer for Environmental Science.  We're also very excited that Student P in Shanghai has an offer for second-year entry to BSc Mathematics with Financial Mathematics - allowing him to transfer from his current university straight into the second year of study in Manchester!

The teaching approach at Manchester is research-led, having been heavily influenced by German approaches to university study in the 19th century, with many of the university’s early leaders having themselves graduated from the University of Heidelberg. Nowadays, Manchester has the highest income of research funding from professional indutries, as well as being voted the ‘most-targeted’ university for graduate recruitment by the UK’s top 100 employers. Academically, it sits 15th overall in the UK rankings, with 19 subjects in the top 10, including music, dentistry, optometry, physics, mathematics, linguistics, anthropology and regional studies for North America, the Middle East, Africa and East Asia.

Over its history, Manchester has produced a very wide range of successful alumni and employed a host of prestigious academics, across many different fields.  Perhaps the most significant are Alan Turing, whose pioneering work in founding the field of computer science helped the University of Manchester develop the world’s first fully-functional electronic computer. Notable others include the philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstien, who studied for a PhD at Manchester, the world-renowned architect Norman Foster, the actor Benedict Cumberbatch and deputy prime minister of Singapore Teo Chee Hean.

Student L and Student E, The University of Warwick

We are extremely happy that Student L from Shanghai has been accepted to the University of Warwick for Mathematics, as has Student E from Australia for Economics, Psychology and Philosophy!

The University of Warwick has built a strong international reputation since its founding in 1965, consistently ranking in and around the UK top 10 for the past two decades.  It currently sits 11th in the UK, with 17 subject areas ranked in the top 10. Warwick is best known for its Mathematics course, which has some of the toughest entry requirements for Mathematics in the UK, on a par with Oxford, Imperial and UCL.

The university was one of the first to pursue strong links with employers, and now ranks 4th on the annual survey of universities ‘most targeted’ by top companies.  Industry links are especially strong with the automotive sector, with Warwick recently opening a new campus in collaboration with Jaguar-Land Rover, for the study and research of automotive engineering.  Warwick has a very active and diverse alumni network, ranging from winners of the Nobel prizes in Chemistry and Economics, to the Presidents of Iceland and Cameroon, to the recent CEOs of Kraft-Heinz and Aston Martin.  They also boast the founder of the Lonely Planet guidebooks.

We can’t wait to see Student L and Student E achieve their own successes!

Student E and Student T, The University of Bristol

Our successful UK university results continue with 2 acceptances to the University of Bristol. Bristol has long been a scientific and technological hub in the UK, playing a key role in many of the innovations that spurred on the industrial revolution two centuries ago. Ranked 16th overall, the modern-day university offers strong programs in mathematics, engineering, and applied sciences.

Student E has been accepted for BEng Aerospace Engineering, studying in Bristol’s prestigious Faculty of Engineering, which ranks second for Engineering in the UK. Founded with an endowment from the Bristol Aeroplane Company in 1946, the Department of Aerospace Engineering maintains close connections with nearby aerospace companies such as Airbus, Rolls Royce, and BAE Systems. Following his impressive UK university results, we hope Student E can build on his research experience to follow in the footsteps of other legendary Bristol-based engineers!

Meanwhile, Student T will be among the second group of students studying at the university’s beautiful new School of Mathematics building, pursuing a BSc in Mathematics that includes the option of an integrated fourth year for an MSci degree. Great work by Student T and his UK Graduate Coach, who navigated him through the process of applying from a less well-known European high school curriculum. Congratulations to them both on their impressive UK university results!

Student H, The University of Durham

Congratulations to our student Student H, accepted to John Snow College at the University of Durham for a Liberal Arts BA!

Ranked 6th in the UK, Durham is the third-oldest university in England. It is also one of the only universities outside Oxford and Cambridge to have a collegiate structure, with each student applying directly to one of the 16 small colleges within the wider university - combining big university resources with the small, intimate classes of a liberal arts college.

Student H will study the innovative Liberal Arts course, allowing her to combine four subjects over three years, graduating with a double major combining Arts, Humanities, and Social Science subjects such as Classics, Philosophy, History, Education, Politics, Economics, Anthropology, English, and Business. This course looks for applicants who are highly intellectual, very self-motivated, and have creative cross-disciplinary skills. Student H’s work with her UK graduate coach at InGenius Prep allowed her to highlight her leadership in bringing together students for academic conferences, as well as her experience researching Greek and Chinese classical philosophy alongside a NYU professor.

Student B, The University of Newcastle

Congratulations to Student B from Shanghai who has been accepted to Newcastle University to study Architecture!

The picturesque city centre campus is next to lively St. James’s Park football stadium, while there are additional campuses in London (Business School), Malaysia (Medical School) and Singapore. Newcastle University is ranked 22nd overall in the UK, with 15 subject areas in the top 10.  As might be expected given its origins, the university has a strong Medical School, ranking 2nd for Physiology and 5th for Dentistry.  The Medical School is at the forefront of medical research in the UK, and was the second school in the world permitted to conduct research on human stem cells.

Student B has the opportunity to join the excellent School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape, ranked 8th in the UK for Architecture.  Students have 24-hour access to their own dedicated design studio, plus brand new workshops for laser cutting and 3D printing. We’re thrilled for her, and wish her the best of luck on her first steps in the world of architecture!
