Scholar Launch Progress Manager

Location: US or Toronto

 

Job Description: 

The Academic Progress Manager position is for people who have a true passion in education and deep interest in interacting with, serving for, and educating people with diverse cultural backgrounds. The Academic Progress Manager will report to the company’s Director of Education. The major job duties and responsibilities include the following: 

  • Manage students' progress in different programs related to academic learning and research 
  • Serve as the bridge between family and faculty advisors, TAs, and other members of the Scholar Launch team, keep parents and business partners updated about the progress and results of their student 
  • Oversee and manage instructor/student interactions
  • Enhance communication between parents, students, faculty advisors, TAs, and Scholar Launch; build and maintain trustworthy relationships with families and students 
  • Help troubleshoot families’ questions and concerns
  • Design curriculum related to academic learning and student support

 

Qualifications: 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ideal candidates should also have: 

  • Bachelor’s degree, English or Education major is preferred 
  • Native-like fluency in Mandarin
  • Passionate about education and student success
  • Great English and communication skills 
  • Extremely detail oriented and diligent
  • Respect deadlines
  • Proactive, trustworthy, and have an impeccable work ethic
  • Previous experience or knowledge of US and Canadian education and college application is a plus

Since its founding, Scholar Launch has provided these unique mentorships for more than 500 students in hundreds of personalized fields, ranging from computer science to anthropology to biomedical engineering. Together with their academic mentors, students design personalized projects that they complete through one-on-one meetings with their mentor and independent work, while receiving personalized feedback and ongoing guidance. Students have gone on to publish their work, find jobs and internships in these fields, and secure letters of recommendation for college or graduate school from their mentors.
