Abby Mead is a Graduate Coach with InGenius Prep based in New York City. She attended Brown University for her undergraduate studies and majored in English. This major honed Abby’s strong communication and writing skills. She also earned her MA from Teachers College, Columbia University in Teaching of English, and subsequently worked at two specialized public schools in NYC as a student teacher.
After college, Abby served as Corps Member at City Year New York, and worked in a public middle school in East Harlem. After her Corps year, she worked in data management and teaching at Success Academy Charter Schools. Upon graduating with her Master’s, Abby taught at an independent all boys school called Saint David’s. At Saint David’s, she developed her project management and curricular design skills, and became the manager of the school-wide ELA curriculum.
Abby is experienced in college advising, teaching, writing, and is passionate about coaching her students. She excels at creating bonds with students and identifying their passions and best qualities. Abby is also highly skilled at application editing, where she focuses on delivering honest and helpful feedback. Her favorite part of working with students is relational teaching, which she considers paramount to the work she does at InGenius Prep.
