Addison Downing is a Graduate Coach with InGenius Prep based in New York City. As a professional in education, Addison brings a history of academic rigor and application experience to his role of counseling students. Addison began his academic journey at the University of Alaska Anchorage, where he actively participated in Student Government and Debate. After two years, he transferred to Northwestern University, earning a BA in Philosophy with a minor in World Literature. His transfer experience provided him with unique insights into the college admissions process, enhancing his ability to guide students through their own educational transitions.
After graduating, Addison taught sixth-grade math at Success Academy’s Bed-Stuy Middle School in Brooklyn. In this role, he honed his teaching skills, designed effective lesson plans, and became adept at meeting the diverse needs of students from various backgrounds. His focus on both academic achievement and social-emotional development, as well as his involvement in the Effective Altruism club at Northwestern, allowed him to inspire students and help them reach their full potential.
