Emily Hurt is a Graduate Coach with InGenius Prep. She was born in Germany and, after a brief stint in California, spent most of her life in Rhode Island. She earned her undergraduate degree in History with honors from Brown University, where she completed an honors thesis. After several years working in the corporate world, she moved on to her doctoral studies at Yale University, where she earned her PhD in Ancient History, having passed her qualifying exams with distinction.
Emily is the winner of the Rome Prize in Ancient Studies from the American Academy in Rome as well as other, competitive academic fellowships from Yale University and the American Classical School in Athens. Emily is a published academic author, with several papers and presentations having been accepted for publication.
Emily is passionate about coaching, teaching and writing at all levels. In addition to her role as an instructor of ancient history, she has taught English from the elementary to college level, a role which further familiarized her with application-style essay writing. She firmly believes in the power of education and in the lifelong project of learning. At InGenius Prep, she pulls from her hands-on experience working with students and her strong background in academia. She focuses on supporting her students through thorough guidance that results in well-built profiles and applications that resonate with Admissions Officers.
