About Ingrid Yu

Ingrid Yu is a Graduate Coach with InGenius Prep based in the UK. She received her 1st-Class degree (Congratulatory First, ranked 3rd in the cohort) in BA Experimental Psychology (EP) from the University of Oxford in 2023. Prior to this, she graduated from Abbey College Cambridge with 3 A in A-Level Psychology, Maths, and History.

Throughout Ingrid’s degree, she actively immersed herself in leadership roles in the Department. Whilst working as a Research Intern and Personal Assistant to her supervisor Prof Matthew Rushworth (Head of Department of Experimental Psychology), she collected student feedback on course delivery and took minutes at meetings where candidate lecturers were interviewed. As Deputy Head of the student committee for EP, Ingrid also organized department open days to promote the unique advantages offered by studying psychology at Oxford to sixth form students from across the world, highlighting the frequent contact with world-leading researchers, diverse assessment formats, and the availability of cutting-edge technology for use in research projects.

Moreover, Ingrid took it to the extra mile to enhance outreach efforts. Not only did she manage an online platform for sharing her experience of applying to and studying at the University of Oxford, but she was also repeatedly invited back to her school, Abbey College Cambridge, to give presentations comparing the psychology courses at top UK universities and offer small-group/one-to-one coaching sessions upon request. These diverse experiences give Ingrid deep knowledge regarding the inner workings of universities and sixth forms, as well as insights into higher education application from different perspectives.

At her own school and in her own time as a part-time tutor, Ingrid has coached dozens of local and international students as they navigated the application process for studying psychology at Oxbridge and Russell Group universities. She has spent over100 hours helping students draft personal statements, practice assessment tests, and do mock interviews. As a Graduate Coach, she brings her patience, resourcefulness, and dedication to taking a personalized approach that tailors her teaching to individual student’s strengths and weaknesses, many of Ingrid’s students have secured offers from top institutions.
