Hello there future scholars and leaders! I’m Jiyoon and I am currently an Ed.M. student at Harvard Graduate School of Education studying Language and Literacy with a keen interest in bilingual learners.
I pursued my undergraduate studies at Carnegie Mellon University where I graduated with a degree in Communication Design and History. I speak English, Korean, and conversational Spanish and am currently focusing my graduate studies on designing educational products that combine the world of artistry and curriculum design to help young bilingual learners become proficient in their native and secondary language.
My love of children’s book illustrations and narratives led me to pursue my graduate studies, after which I hope to have a career in the world of educational publishing within the Asian market. I have worked professionally with bilingual learners in both the U.S. and Seoul, South Korea ranging from elementary to high school students to help them become confident in their writing.
Outside of my academic and career pursuits, I visit the city zoo or aquarium to draw animals in my sketchbook, take ballet lessons, and watch space movies, as much as I can. Despite the hectic schedule that academia demands, I always have time to push my little son around in his favorite car buggy in the park.
