John (Yide) Cai is a Graduate Coach with InGenius Prep based in China. As an award-winning playwright and theatermaker with an impressive academic and professional background, Yide brings a wealth of knowledge in higher education and writing skills to his role as a counselor. Yide graduated Magna Cum Laude from Emory University with a BA in Playwriting and German Studies and has also pursued an MFA in Playwriting from Boston University. With his background in the college admissions process combined with interdisciplinary knowledge, Yide now works to guide students toward their academic and professional goals.
Throughout Yide’s academic journey, he has worked as an assistant dramaturg with the Prague Shakespeare Company and as the dramaturg for China’s premiere of “The Book Of Will.” He has translated writing pieces and worked internationally with top schools and production companies, seeing his own plays featured in various festivals and workshops, including the Lenaia Playwriting Festival, New South Young Playwrights Festival, and the WorkingTitlePlaywrights Table Series. Yide has been involved in every aspect of the production process, including as an actor, director, and dramaturg, and has contributed to theater administration in cities like Seattle, Prague, and Weimar.
