About Karen Kuang

Karen Kuang is a Graduate Coach at InGenius Prep, based in Toronto, Canada. Her background bridges rigorous academic research and applied industry experience, providing her with a nuanced perspective on graduate admissions advising. She earned her BSc in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology from the University of Toronto, followed by an MSc in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University. At Johns Hopkins, she investigated tissue regeneration and immune-stromal interactions using single-cell RNA sequencing and spatial transcriptomics. Her research has been featured in peer-reviewed journals and scientific conferences.

Throughout her academic pursuits, Karen has mentored junior trainees and led cross-disciplinary collaborations, demonstrating a thoughtful, globally minded approach to coaching students through the graduate admissions process. Karen’s transition from academia into the biotech industry allows her to offer students valuable insight into both worlds. At STEMCELL Technologies, she worked as a Senior Process Development Associate, leading initiatives in biologics development and 3D bioprinting. She also previously worked at Sanofi, where she supported cell culture process optimization and gained early exposure to the inner workings of pharmaceutical R&D.
