Richard (Ricky) Dama is a Graduate Coach at InGenius Prep, based in California. With a diverse academic background, Ricky holds a BA in Cognitive Science & Linguistics from Pomona College, with a concentration in Computer Science and a minor in Mathematics. He later earned his MEd from UC Riverside and completed a joint MA degree in Children’s Literature, Media, & Culture from the University of Glasgow. His experience spans several countries and brings his language and educational insights to his role—counseling students into their dream schools.
Richard’s experience includes serving as a writing and editing coach, an English Language Art teacher, and an Outdoor Education Coordinator. He has maintained a passion for education and mentorship throughout his career. From outdoor education, preschool literacy, adult education, and college admissions advising, Richard has worked with students in all stages of development. He believes empowering students to share their stories is the key to personal success, which is present in his mentees’ results. Richard has used his insights to guide students to admission into top schools such as Cornell, Northwestern, and CalTech.
As a Graduate Coach, Richard takes a creative, quality approach to mentorship. He works with students to help build their profiles and showcase their unique identities. Through sharing, practicing, and applying diverse knowledge of writing and speaking, Richard strives to help all his students stand out in the admissions office. With his guidance, students will foster the skills to carry their success far beyond the college application process.
