Hello! I am a Part-Time Graduate Coach with InGenius Prep, based in Los Angeles, California.
I grew up just outside of Richmond, Virginia and received my undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia, where I majored in Economics and Media Studies. After graduating, I moved to Los Angeles to work for a television writers’ room, but eventually applied for Creative Writing programs to get more experience teaching and writing prose. I was fortunate enough to get a fully funded position in the MFA program at the University of Florida. There I honed my skills as a writer while developing a passion for teaching through courses like “Argument and Persuasion” and “Beginner Fiction Writing.”
While pursuing my degree, I also spent a summer working as an instructor for the Institute of Reading Development where I had the opportunity to teach in a fully remote setting across all age levels (K-12). There I improved my skills as an instructor thanks to a more challenging classroom environment in which every week I saw to the needs of hundreds of students – tracking their progress class-by-class over the course of a summer while communicating with their parents to ensure they got as much out of the course as possible.
After graduating from the University of Florida, I took a role as a Part-Time Writing Instructor with InGenius Prep, where I have been working ever since. In this role, I have mentored students one-on-one and in the classroom. Whatever the format, I always love discussing literature and the craft of writing with my students as they develop their voices on the page and in the classroom.
I am excited to work together and look forward to helping you achieve your goals!
