Sofia Martinez is a Graduate Coach with InGenius Prep based in New York. As a bio-medicine and higher education professional, Sofia brings a unique combination of health, computer science, and linguistics to her role as a Graduate Coach. After graduating from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a dual Bachelor’s in Computer Science and Linguistics and holding a Master’s in Biomedical Visualization, Sofia’s academic journey began with a passion for education as a peer tutor in computer science. She has since expanded her teaching experience to include computer science and biology courses. Now, she brings her expertise to college admissions, helping student apply to their top-choice schools.
Born and raised in Mexico, Sofia is keenly aware of how complicated the higher education system in the United States may appear to outsiders, and she is passionate about ensuring that all students feel capable of pursuing the higher education opportunities they desire. Throughout her time in education, Sofia served as a teaching assistant, student researcher, STEM coach, and computer science tutor, utilizing all her knowledge and experience to support students—believing that access to education is a fundamental right.
As a Graduate Coach with InGenius Prep, Sofia brings an analytical and empathetic approach to her role as a coach. Her goal is to support students through the application process and help them realize their full potential—whether it be STEM or any other field. With her experience as a researcher and medical illustrator, Sofia works to communicate complex ideas simply and help students carve a unique path throughout their education. With her support, students will be able to navigate the college admissions process with confidence and clarity.
