Hi, I’m Alyssa! I recently completed my Ph.D. in History from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. I received my B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis, graduating summa cum laude with a major in History and minors in English and Italian. Before going to graduate school, I worked in educational publishing in New York City.
I am extremely passionate about teaching, and I have many years of experience working and volunteering with students. As a graduate instructor, I taught several courses in the History Department at the University of Michigan and focused on helping students develop their analytical abilities and writing skills. I have also worked one on one with high school students as an academic coach and tutor, guiding students through everything from personal essays to schoolwork to test prep. I really enjoy connecting with students and supporting them on their educational journeys. I particularly love helping students learn how to express their thoughts and interests through their writing.
Outside of teaching, I love traveling, watching movies, and trying to improve my cooking skills. I also love spending time with my family, especially my nieces and nephews.
