Hey everyone, my name is Andres Hernandez. I was born and raised in Miami, FL and, although academically minded, spent most of my time playing baseball throughout high school.
Upon entering college at the University of Central Florida, I quit baseball and decided to pursue my dream of becoming a physician. At UCF I was a Molecular and Microbiology major and focused my extracurricular time on three major activities: 1) volunteering as a teacher and medical translator in various underserved communities throughout Orlando, Tampa, and Miami, 2) conducting ALS research in a basic science lab, and 3) teaching MCAT Biology prep courses for The Princeton Review.
After graduating at UCF I went to the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine to get my medical degree. At Penn I have focused my extracurricular time on the admissions and recruiting process, most recently founding a scholarship at UCF providing academic guidance through the medical school application process for one student annually.
This August I was accepted to a joint MD/MBA program and will be continuing my education at The Wharton School and applying into Plastic Surgery residency in 2020. I am truly passionate about education and particularly graduate admissions now that I have applied to business school and nearly 30 medical schools. I love to talk and help when/where I can so please feel free to reach out!
