My passion for ensuring the success of my student’s drives me every day. This drive comes from my 13 plus years of experience advising/mentoring diverse student populations, including international students, throughout various types of higher education institutions. I obtained my bachelor’s degree from UCLA in sociology and master’s degree from the University of San Diego in counseling with an emphasis in college counseling and student affairs.
Currently, as the Graduation and Retention Advising Specialist for the College of Engineering and Computer Science at a public institution in Southern California, I am responsible for improving retention, reducing time to degree and resolving issues impeding graduation for students in the colleges’ five departments. Every day brings something different and an opportunity to help a student achieve his/her educational goals. My students’ success is my success. For this reason, I am passionate about the work that I do.
My other passion is travel! I have been to 38 countries and am looking forward to exploring many more. When I am not able to escape for long, exploring Los Angeles’ wonderful neighborhoods in search of the best brunch is my favorite weekend activity.
