The Dallas Urban Debate Alliance, launched in 2007, is a nonprofit organization that works to expand the access of competitive academic debate to high schools throughout the Dallas area. Dallas Urban debate operates in about 40 Dallas ISD high schools and middle schools and serves about a 1,000 Dallas high school students. Foundational to Dallas Urban Debate’s mission is the belief that debate provides the best way for creating empowered and engaged youth who can become leaders in their communities. In addition to organizing and running a full schedule of tournaments throughout the year, Dallas Urban Debate provides comprehensive support and training to students and teacher-coaches. Dedicated students can earn full scholarships to University summer debate workshops that prepare them for the highest levels of competitive debate.
