I got my start working in highly selective admission at my alma mater, Swarthmore College. After four years there (as an Admissions Counselor and Assistant Dean of Admissions), I switched coasts and worked first as a Senior Assistant Dean of Admissions and then as an Associate Dean of Admissions at Pomona College in Claremont, California. I loved my four years at Pomona, but decided to head back east to work at Haverford College as Associate Director of Admission and eventually as Senior Associate Director of Admission. My years in admission have enabled me to visit hundreds of high schools across the country and to travel repeatedly to Asia to help promote liberal arts education and recruit applicants for Haverford. I also spent a year working as Associate Director of College Guidance at an independent school. I appreciated the chance to work with students more closely throughout the process of deciding where to apply and crafting applications that helped them come through the admission process with offers from colleges where they’d be challenged and thrive. I’ve loved working with students on writing since my days as a student Writing Associate at Swarthmore, and 15 years of conducting admission interviews has given me ample opportunity to help students present their best selves. In addition to spending time with my young son and my husband, I really enjoy baking and gardening. In recent years, my leisure reading has focused on reading to my son, but as he begins to read on his own, I’m excited to get back into reading on my own, too!
