After spending elementary and middle school years in rural Connecticut and Vermont, I was accepted to several boarding schools and matriculated at the Kent School in Connecticut. While at Kent, I was the captain of the Varsity Cross Country and Varsity Squash teams and was also a member of the Varsity Rowing team.
After graduating as a member of the Cum Laude Society from the Kent School, I was fortunate enough to be accepted by many colleges and universities in the United States, including an Ivy League school, several highly-rated public universities, and a range of private colleges and universities. In the end, I decided to attend Bowdoin College in Maine, one of the top-rated liberal arts colleges in the United States. While at Bowdoin, I studied East Asian Studies, Education Policy, and Environmental Studies, and participated in a range of internships, from collecting wild bat species in Northern Maine to developing business skills as an intern for a Chinese tea importing company. I was also an exchange student at National Taiwan Normal University and Yunnan University (in Kunming, China).
While in college, I discovered that my biggest passion in life is education and working directly with students. I have taught classes ranging from high-level SAT Test Prep to an international relations elective class on China-South Korea relations. I also have a distinct interest in higher education access and college counseling. As an admissions coach, I have helped over fifteen students from Mainland China, Taiwan, and the United States get into their dream high schools and universities.
Outside of work and school, I am an avid traveler and eater, having traveled through several Asian countries in search of the best food. I have also spent significant time living abroad in Taipei, Beijing, and Kunming. Although I am not in quite the same shape as I was in high school thanks to all the Chinese street food, I stay active through running and have completed two marathons and several half-marathons in cities around the United States and East Asia.
