I am currently a pianist and coach at the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto, Canada’s preeminent opera house. I also work as a rehearsal pianist with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and perform in a piano trio called the MIR trio. I was a former professor in Music Studies at Northwestern University, where I also received master’s and doctoral degrees in piano performance. However, I started off in the sciences. I have taught chemistry laboratory classes at the college level and have a degree in chemistry from Johns Hopkins University. Concurrently with that degree, I completed a piano performance degree at Peabody Conservatory.
I enjoy helping students with varied interests find their niches in the university environment, as I come from a unique background blending music and science. I also enjoy finding each student’s passion, as I believe we are all more motivated to excel when we deeply care about that which we pursue.
In my free time, I also love running, playing tennis, and learning foreign languages (Italian is my latest project!).
