Laura Barasch Gitelson is a Former Admissions Officer with deep expertise in legal education and highly selective admissions. She holds a B.A. from Swarthmore College and a J.D. from NYU School of Law, where she graduated cum laude.
Laura spent six years as the Associate Director of Admissions at Boston University School of Law, overseeing the review process for one of the largest J.D. applicant pools in the United States. During her tenure, she evaluated thousands of J.D. and transfer applications, conducted interviews for foreign-educated applicants, and worked closely with the Director of Financial Aid to award merit-based scholarships. Her insider experience gives her a unique perspective on waitlist management and how to help applicants “break through” in a competitive field.
Before focusing on admissions, Laura had a distinguished legal career as a criminal defense attorney with The Legal Aid Society of New York and in private practice. She also served as a writing instructor and career advisor for law students in Boston. Laura is passionate about helping future law students find their “best fit” schools and crafting narratives that fulfill their highest potential.
