MA, Department of English, Princeton University
MA, Department of English, Fordham University
FA, Department of Filmmaking, SUNY Purchase

I am a Graduate Coach based in New Hampshire. I received my undergraduate degree from SUNY Purchase where I majored in filmmaking. After a few years working in New York, I returned to school and am currently completing a Ph.D. in the Princeton English Department. My research is on early American literature, especially the ways that English colonists wrote about (and tried to understand) the Native communities they encountered. Before that, I earned an MA from Fordham University, where I also worked on the university’s undergraduate admissions committee. I have taught English, writing, and film studies at Plymouth State University in New Hampshire and, before that, composition and literature in a New Jersey state prison.

My career has offered me a wide array of different and complementary perspectives on academia. As an admissions committee member, I’ve seen how schools evaluate applicants and put together an incoming class. As a teacher, I’ve seen what makes students successful as they transition to college. As a scholar, I’ve seen how important writing and revision are to developing your unique perspective. And as a tutor and coach, I aim to help students do two essential things: first, to recognize and cultivate their own voice, highlighting what makes them unique. And second, to present that voice in a powerful, memorable way that makes their uniqueness clear to any reader.

Outside of work, I like to hang out with my dog and cat, cook, play chess, and sometimes write fiction.
