Bruno Villegas is a Former Admissions Officer with InGenius Prep based in Orange County, California. Bruno earned his BA in Immigration and Education Policy from Harvard College, where he also served on the Harvard Board of First Year Advisors. He then worked in college admissions for seven years, spending four years as a hometown recruiter and senior coordinator. In this role, he established relationships with prospective high school students, and helped to build community among current students.
After earning his BA, Bruno became a full time Harvard Admissions Officer for three years, where he read thousands of applications from prospective students. He supervised several student recruitment groups, including the Campus Tour Guides, Undergraduate Admissions Council, and Undergraduate Minority Recruitment Program. Bruno created the online information section structure still used by Harvard today, and assisted in the creation of the Spanish virtual information session.
While at Harvard, Bruno attended the Harvard Graduate School of Education, where he earned his masters degree in Education Policy and Analysis (EPA). He was selected by his EPA peers and faculty to receive the intellectual contribution award, for his contributions to class discussions and community building. He also worked as a research assistant and established a podcast series to highlight people’s experiences with migration.
In his previous 1-on-1 counseling work, Bruno has assisted dozens of students with applications to top-ranked programs. In addition to his work with US-based students, he participated in Saudi Arabia’s prestigious MISK program, through which he supported over 50 high-achieving students with their applications to schools across the US, UK, and Canada. Bruno then transitioned to InGenius Prep, where he draws from his recent and vast experience in admissions at top-ranked universities to guide his students towards their goals. He focuses on supporting his students in crafting a genuine and effective Application Persona, the cohesive narrative throughout their application, leaning on his knowledge of cutting-edge admissions trends and recent data. Bruno also enjoys sharing his experiences as both a student and an admissions officer to motivate students towards success.
