My IG counselors were awesome! Couldn’t have gotten into my dream school early without them. I joined IG in late 11th grade, and my counselors were able to take what scraps I had when I first joined and guide me into creating a proper, packaged profile. What they helped most in were my essays. Although I consider myself a good writer given my humanities background, it takes me time—a lot of time—to get my work to a place I’d consider good, especially so when the writing in question is introspective. My counselors were extremely helpful in speeding up the process, working with me to really dissect my life and dig up the interesting, worthy parts to be written into essays. And throughout my drafting rounds, my counselors tore up and stitched together my essays over and over, catching unsavory details to cut and identifying promising leads to expand on.
