Frequently Asked Questions

When do college admissions results usually come out?

Most regular decision results are released between mid-March and early April. Early Action (EA) and Early Decision (ED) results typically arrive in mid-December, with some schools offering Early Decision II results in January or February.

What is the difference between Early Action and Early Admission?

Early Action (EA) lets you apply early and receive an early decision without being obligated to enroll.
Early Admission usually refers to students applying to college before completing high school—a much rarer pathway reserved for exceptional academic cases.

Does applying Early Action increase my chances of getting admitted?

Often, yes. Many colleges have higher acceptance rates for Early Action applicants because these students tend to be more prepared and show strong interest. However, EA is non-binding, so the benefit varies by school.

Should I apply early if I want to improve my admissions results?

If you have strong grades, solid extracurriculars, and polished application materials by November, applying early can boost your chances. Students with rising grades or incomplete materials may be better off waiting for Regular Decision.

How can I interpret my admissions results and plan my next steps?

Look at patterns across acceptances, deferrals, and rejections to understand where you were most competitive. If deferred, follow the school’s instructions to submit updates. If denied, focus on remaining applications or consider options like transfer pathways or gap years.
