Kevin Chu is a Graduate Coach with InGenius Prep. He earned his BS in Materials Science & Engineering, with a minor in Computer Science, from UCLA, before completing his PhD in Materials Science and Engineering at Georgia Tech.
During his PhD, Kevin taught several semesters of undergraduate engineering courses as a teaching assistant, guiding students through difficult material during office hours and lecturing to classes of 30+ students. He pursued the CIRTL Teaching Fellowship, earning an Associate-level certification in research-backed teaching. His doctoral research, conducted with national labs including Sandia and the Naval Research Laboratory, resulted in eight peer-reviewed publications and three international conference presentations. He has since worked as a software and materials engineer across cloud HPC infrastructure and neural engineering.
Having navigated a demanding path from undergraduate engineering through doctoral research and now industry, Kevin understands firsthand the persistence required to succeed at each stage of higher education. As a Graduate Coach, he focuses on helping students engage with their genuine interests, believing this produces stronger, more authentic personal statements, and brings a rigorous but positive style to feedback.
