Kyle Kieffer is a Former Admissions Officer at Northwestern University, where he also earned his bachelor’s degree in neuroscience. Before joining the admissions committee, he served as director of two territories for Northwestern’s Alumni Admission Council, managing interviewers across Illinois and Arizona and reviewing every interview report before it entered a file.
Kyle read thousands of applications and sat on the committee that made final admissions decisions for Northwestern’s incoming freshman and transfer classes, giving him direct experience with both first-year and transfer admissions for a highly selective applicant pool. He is now a medical student at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, where he built and now co-leads a four-year longitudinal leadership development program that enrolls 18 students.
As a Former Admissions Officer, Kyle’s approach to applications is direct and no-nonsense but empathetic: if a draft isn’t working, he says so plainly, explains why, and lays out what to do about it. He doesn’t promise outcomes, but he does promise an honest read, a bias toward doing the right thing over the easy one, and hard work on an application a student and family can be proud of.
