Max Watson is a Graduate Coach with InGenius Prep based in NY. He is also a DPhil Candidate at the University of Oxford, where his research examines the inability of international institutions to contain and legislate around proxy conflict. He completed his undergraduate degree in History, specializing in Empires and Revolutions, at Columbia University.
Max completed his MPhil at the University of Oxford in 2023, where he researched economic drivers contributing to military and diplomatic decision-making. While at Oxford, he was a member of the Working Groups on Technology and Security and Emerging Threats, researching the moral, political, and legal impacts of AI and other emerging technologies on international security. Since his MPhil, he has worked as a Research Assistant at the Oxford Institute for Ethics, Law and Armed Conflict (ELAC) and the Programme on International Peace and Security (IPS).
He is particularly interested in the changing nature of threats to global security and the legal and moral dimensions of contemporary and future conflict. As a Graduate Coach, Max is passionate about helping students to excel by highlighting their own perspectives and interests, striving to help them maximize their potential in the admissions process by playing to their unique strengths.
