About Siqi

Siqi Li is a Graduate Coach based in Oxford. He is currently a first-year DPhil student in Ancient History at the University of Oxford and a COSF scholar, researching religion in the ancient Mediterranean and early China. He also holds an MPhil in Greek and Roman History and a BA in Ancient and Modern History, both from Oxford.

Siqi has drawn on a wide range of historical training throughout his academic career. As an undergraduate, he studied nineteenth-century Europe, with particular attention to French art history and the French Revolution, alongside the politics and economy of the Roman Republic. During his MPhil, he transferred to the Classics Faculty and began his work on Graeco-Roman religion, travelling to Princeton for a graduate seminar on comparative religion before completing his thesis on Roman sacrifice.

This breadth of training has given Siqi a thorough understanding of the Oxford History and Classics curricula, and a clear sense of the skills and preparation expected of an Oxford history student. He has advised several students through the application process, including undergraduates applying for a Master’s degree, giving him a nuanced, discipline-specific understanding of what Oxford’s history and classics programmes look for in prospective students.
