About Sonya Ovbey

Hi, I’m Sonya a Former Admissions Officer at InGenius Prep! Born in Moscow, Russia, I spent most of my childhood in the Bay Area and earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology from UC Berkeley. Upon graduating, I moved to New York, where I managed law student recruitment at a top law firm and had the honor of singing with various ensembles at many of the city’s incredible venues, including Carnegie Hall and the Metropolitan Opera.

Most recently, I served as the Assistant Director of Admissions at Georgia State University, focusing on undergraduate admissions and campus visitation and events. My passion for student success and support brought me to my current position at InGenius Prep, where I am thrilled to be working with families as they navigate the college admissions process.

I currently reside in Atlanta with my husband, two daughters, and a puppy, where we enjoy exploring the outdoors and making music.
