Taryn Martinez is a Graduate Coach with InGenius Prep whose approach to college admissions is shaped by more than a decade teaching students from middle school through graduate school. She holds a BA and MA in Environmental Studies from Brown University and an MAT from the Relay Graduate School of Education.
As a science teacher in New York City, Taryn guided hundreds of 8th graders through the city’s competitive high school admissions process, routinely helping them earn acceptances to schools like Bronx Science and Stuyvesant. She built partnerships with NYU’s Division of Epidemiology and Columbia’s Genetic Counseling program to bring scientific inquiry into her classroom, and took on leadership roles including Math for America Master Teacher and School Team Leader for the Lighthouse Collaborative, Showcase Schools, and Competency Collaborative.
As a Graduate Coach, Taryn is a warm, supportive, mentoring-focused partner, especially suited to students who benefit from reassurance and enjoy working as a team.
