Hi, my name is Ruben, and I’m a Graduate Coach with InGenius Prep! I completed a Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry at Columbia University and received a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences from Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. As an undergraduate and graduate student, I worked in genetics-based research laboratories, both in wet and dry labs. During and following graduate school I worked in emergency medicine and mental health services. Around this time, I began tutoring and mentoring students in various STEM subjects. After moving to Dallas, Texas, I continued tutoring STEM subjects and took on a few other teaching positions, including as an ESL (English as a second language) instructor and Biology lab instructor at local community colleges. I also have worked as an analyst for a biotech company and software development company.
My first venture into tutoring and academic prep was as a participant in AVID in high school. As a participant I assisted in tutoring and received mentorship and guidance through the college application process. As a minority student from a disadvantaged background, I relied on mentorship programs to achieve my goals, so I am passionate about helping others achieve their dreams.
In my free time, I enjoy watching films, working on projects such as developing an iOS application, hiking with my Pitbull, and spending time with family.
