For the Class of 2028, 71% of ACT submitters scored between 35-36, and 88% of SAT submitters scored between 1500-1600, highlighting the competitive range of admitted students.
UPenn is highly competitive, with an average admitted student GPA of 3.9. To stand out, applicants should aim for mostly A’s in challenging coursework, such as AP, IB, or honors classes, to demonstrate readiness for college-level academics.
If your GPA is below 3.9, a strong SAT or ACT score can help balance your application. Since GPA is harder to improve in later high school years, excelling in standardized testing, extracurricular achievements, and essays can strengthen your profile.

UPenn’s Early Decision acceptance rate is higher than Regular Decision. If UPenn is your top choice and you’re ready to commit, applying ED can boost your chances.
Only apply to Wharton, Penn Engineering, or Nursing if you’re fully committed. The College of Arts and Sciences offers flexibility, but transferring between schools is difficult. Align your choice with your genuine interests.
