Ben Kasten is a Graduate Coach with InGenius Prep and is an experienced educator based in Madison, Wisconsin. He graduated with honors from Bowdoin College and holds MA degrees from SOAS University of London and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His teaching career includes a year as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Taiwan and more than a decade as a high school teacher and academic advisor in college prep schools in New York and Wisconsin.
Through his work, Ben has gained a deep appreciation for a student-centered, supportive approach to navigating the competitive college admissions landscape. He has been an instructor for Theory of Knowledge and has successfully guided numerous students through the IB Extended Essays. He has also served as a faculty advisor for extracurriculars like student government and Model UN, coached track and basketball, assisted with ESL support, and offered feedback on college application materials.
Ben also brings substantial experience in higher education to his role. His research as a cultural and intellectual historian reflects and informs his values as an educator, and his work as a teaching assistant earned him UW-Madison’s Early Excellence in Teaching Award.
As a Graduate Coach, Ben is deeply committed to the idea that curiosity and creativity can help students develop the kind of authentic engagement that leads to sustained success. He is excited to support and connect with students as they explore the next steps in their unique educational journeys.
