Hello! I am a Graduate Coach with InGenius Prep based on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. I pursued my undergraduate studies at Middlebury College, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a degree in International Politics & Economics, focused in Chinese Language and Culture. Since Middlebury, I have pursued a hands-on approach to prioritize and improve the health of the planet, our communities, and each other by working as a teacher and regenerative farmer.
During my sophomore and junior years at Middlebury, I worked for the Chinese Department tutoring first and second year Chinese students. During my senior year, I worked as a Chinese teaching assistant. After graduation, I was hired by Broadwater Academy, a K-12 college preparatory school on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, to work with their international students from China. I created and taught a class called the International Experience, and spent several hours in the evenings at Broadwater’s international house to provide mentorship, tutoring, and English support. I spent a year working with Tucson Village Farm in Tucson, AZ educating youth about sustainable farm-to-table food systems.
In Virginia I live and work on a 50-acre biodynamic farm with cows, sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, geese and rabbits, and cultivate a diverse mix of vegetables, fruit, medicinal herbs and flowers to build soil health, promote biodiversity, and establish a relationship with nature based on reverence and mutual respect.
I am grateful to have studied abroad in China at universities in both Beijing and Hangzhou, and to conduct research in Shaanxi Province with Stanford University’s Rural Education Action Program. I have played 10 years of rugby, thoroughly enjoy reading, and greatly appreciate exploring the outdoors and learning about local ecology. I am currently studying Classical Chinese in my free time, relish any opportunity to practice listening, reading, and speaking Mandarin, and am heartily dedicated to supporting others to cultivate the characteristics that I strive to embody myself: compassion, gratitude, tolerance, resilience, empathy, integrity, sincerity.
