Hi! I’m a Graduate Coach with InGenius Prep. I earned a B.A. in English from Harvard and a M.S. in Broadcast Journalism from Columbia. After that, I spent about four years working as a radio reporter for the NPR member-station in Memphis, WKNO-FM. While working as a journalist, I realized that writing also needs the sort of in-depth treatment and explanation that I was giving to news topics; and I began to want to help people understand writing the way I do—as an exciting field of possibility and play. Yes, writing can be difficult. But this difficulty need not be frustrating or off-putting. In 2013, I left my career in journalism to pursue a career in teaching. Since then, I have helped hundreds of students better understand and enjoy the process of writing.
I recently earned my Ph.D. in English from Florida State University. At the time of my graduation, I was a Kingsbury Graduate Fellow and Instructor of Record for first-year writing, literature, and creative writing courses. I am very comfortable leading a large class, but what I enjoy most about teaching is working with students one-on-one to meet their writing goals.
Outside of work, I’m a poet (I recently published a book) and I love playing tennis.
