Hello! I am a Graduate Coach with InGenius Prep, based in New York City where I currently work as Legal Counsel for a technology company.
I grew up in New York City, am a first-generation immigrant, and have native fluency in Spanish. I received my undergraduate degree from the University at Albany, SUNY in Accounting and Business Administration. Upon graduation, I worked for three years as a forensic consultant for a “Big Four” accounting firm. During my time in college and as a consultant, I often counseled students through their undergraduate admissions process in my free time. I very much enjoyed giving tips, editing personal statements and resumes, and became a go-to resource for my network.
Subsequently, I made the decision to go to law school. During my first admissions cycle, I was working long hours, did not have an admissions coach, and did not fully understand the law school admissions process. While I did get some competitive offers, I felt that if I devoted more time to the process and nurtured my law school application for one more year, I would gain admission into a school that suited me more and with a more attractive scholarship. Thus, throughout the next year, I curated my personal statement and increased my LSAT score. After putting in this effort, I gained admission into Berkeley Law School as a J.D. Candidate. While at Berkeley Law, I often edited personal statements and counseled students through their law school admissions process. Further, I served on the Berkeley Law faculty-student admissions committee where I reviewed admissions applications for aspiring Berkeley Law students. Through this experience, I learned what the Dean of Admissions and admissions committee members look for in application packages and I was able to help admit students into the law school.
In the last few years, I’ve advised many students from different backgrounds as they navigated the college and law school admissions process. I enjoy helping students craft the best admissions packet possible and help point them to resources that I found useful throughout my own admissions process. I do not believe that the standard benchmarking frameworks often used by admissions committees adequately reflect a student’s ability to succeed in college and law school and I look forward to helping students showcase their holistic self to admissions committees. Outside of work and counseling, I love trying new restaurants, listening to podcasts, and spending time with friends and family.
