About Kelley Swanberg

I graduated from Harvard University magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa with a Bachelors in Neurobiology and citation in French language in 2009, and completed a Korean-language Master of Science program in traditional Korean medicine with a perfect G.P.A. at Kyung Hee University in 2015. I am a Ph.D. candidate in Biomedical Engineering at the Columbia University School of Engineering and Applied Sciences with an interest in applications of magnetic resonance spectroscopy to clinical neuroscience.

Proficient in Chinese, Korean, French, and English, I have served as the co-founding Chief Executive Officer of the nonprofit multinational student exchange organization Initiating Mutual Understanding through Student Exchange (IMUSE), the lecturer and course proctor at the Peking University Department of History, the in-house translator and analyst for a local technology company in Beijing, and the primary English-to-Chinese translator of a thesis-writing guide published in 2011 by Peking University Press, in addition to the co-author of several research publications in various subfields of neuroscience.

I am passionate about cooperating with others to promote the understanding of new ideas and I have over a decade of experience teaching a range of subjects, including mathematics, general biology, neuroscience, history, French, English, SAT, ACT, and college personal statement and expository writing, to every level of student from elementary school to professional. Through these experiences, I have shared happy memories with hundreds of students from several countries and am continually eager to teach and learn from more.

When I am not working toward my next step as a neuroscience researcher, I am probably running, engaging in some sort of martial art or team sport (especially Ultimate frisbee!), reading or writing science fiction, painting, or chatting over coffee with friends.
