Kelly Hur is a Former Admissions Officer with InGenius Prep based in Chicago. She received her Bachelor of Music degree from the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University. Kelly then went on to pursue her MS degree in Leadership for Creative Enterprises at Northwestern University’s School of Communication.
Throughout her time at Johns Hopkins, Kelly nurtured her interest in business and her passion for helping youth actualize their potential through higher education by working in the Admissions Office. She worked in Admissions all throughout my undergraduate years, and upon graduation, she was personally recruited by the Dean of Admissions and offered a full-time role as an Admissions Officer.
In her role as an Admissions Officer, she managed one-third of the application pool and read over 200+ applications from the final group of selected applicants per admission season. In addition to reading applications, she worked with the Senior Associate Dean of Institute Affairs, Director of Admissions, and Associate Director of Admissions to delegate students appropriate merit scholarships as well as initiate them into prestigious academic tracks. She was also responsible for Admitted Students Days itineraries as well as Audition Week.
Kelly later worked as a higher education consultant for prospective students hoping to gain admission to top schools, both at the state and private level. She aided them in implementing her tailored strategies to build a well-rounded application.
Kelly has advised dozens of students and guided them throughout their application journey, ranging in studies from Music to Communication, Creative Writing to Economics, and Anthropology. It is her goal to create a harmonious connection between the student and their entrance application. Training students at InGenius Prep to put their voice and personality to paper and helping them find their own joys and passions is what what she enjoys the most about what she does.
