About Nikita Sukmono

Greetings! I am a Graduate Coach with InGenius Prep from New Haven, Connecticut. I hold an MA in Asian Studies from Cornell University as well as a BA in Liberal Arts – International Studies Concentration from Soka University of America. My time in undergrad has taken me from Singapore and Malaysia for research, to Indonesia for Fulbright, Japan for study abroad and beyond. Over the course of four years, I’ve also held positions across the university, including in the Office of the President and Student Affairs, on top of the Pacific Basin Research Center.  This drive has only continued into my graduate studies at Cornell University, where I have served as Graduate Chair for the Cornell Southeast Asia Program, President of my program’s Graduate Student Association, and as a founding organizer of the Asian Studies Department’s Graduate Association.

Throughout my higher ed experience, I’ve immersed myself in leadership and dynamic positions which have put me in an optimal position to know its expectations, inner workings, and diversity of student experiences. I’ve taken on a lot of work in my time which corresponds to the requirements of an ideal mentor. My experiences have allowed me to be an active organizer in programming for both incoming undergraduate and graduate students, directly working with those who make application decisions every season. In the last few years, I’ve advised dozens of students of many different backgrounds as they navigated the college admissions process and always enjoyed the process.

My experience has lent me a flexible and creative open mind which is amenable and adaptable to various situations and quick to adopt differing approaches as fitting to the student and circumstance. As the scheme of college admissions has expanded significantly, I look forward to aiding students in finding the best fit for them.

In my free time, I am a passionate foodie, tennis fan, aspiring world traveler, and hopeful polyglot. Current weekends are filled with kanji flashcards and new recipe testing. I am excited to work together and look forward to helping you achieve your goals!
