Hi! I’m Tom, a Graduate Coach with InGenius Prep, based in the UK. I graduated with a Masters in Engineering from the University of Cambridge in 2018. My studies covered a broad range of engineering topics though I ultimately specialised in mechanical engineering and materials. Whilst at Cambridge I spent a lot of time working in the areas of access and outreach. This involved subject masterclasses, personal statement workshops, and Q&A sessions. I loved helping prospective students, and I am excited to be able to carry this work on with InGenius Prep.
Following Cambridge, I worked in the field of medical devices as a mechanical engineer. In 2020 I began a PhD in Mechanical Engineering at Queen’s University Belfast where my research is focussed on using advanced composite materials for impact protection. This means that I have successfully navigated both undergraduate and postgraduate applications to competitive universities.
Outside of academia, I am actively pursuing chartership with the IMechE. This is internationally recognised as a sign of competence and commitment as a professional engineer. I also love the outdoors and can often be found whitewater kayaking on rivers around the country.
