I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Biology at Grinnell College and had begun a PhD program in Evolutionary Biology at Penn before realizing that my passion is really about humans. As a result I re-applied to Evolutionary Anthropology programs and ended up at Harvard. I divide my time between working on developing evolutionary theories on human behavior in Cambridge and conducting fieldwork among ethnic minorities in southwest China. Although I have three degrees in biology, I devote most of my time to understanding humans—both from a biological and a sociocultural perspective.
I am passionate about teaching and have mentored many students during my time at Penn and Harvard. In addition to academic teaching and mentoring, I also worked part-time as a counselor to help high school students with their college application planning and essays. I particularly enjoy the process of knowledge sharing and watching my students improve and grow.
I’m an avid swing dancer in my spare time. When I’m reading or writing, you’ll almost always find me on the dance floor or on the way to the dance floor!
