Hi, my name is Rongzhi, a graduate coach with InGenius Prep. Currently based in Wuhan, China, I work as a college counsellor at the Wuhan Britain-China School. Born and Raised in Guangzhou, China, I grew up attending a small yet incredibly diverse international school. When I was 15, my parents sent me to Kentucky to attend high school for 4 years. Thanks to these opportunities, I had the privilege of getting to know many peers whose educational experiences vastly differed from one another, and have developed an interest in education ever since.
Before I enrolled in Vassar College, where I eventually received my undergraduate degrees in History and Education, I took a gap year from 2017 to 2018 and worked as a teacher at a rural elementary school in Sichuan, China. This humbling experience opened my eyes to the other side of education: that of the teachers and the admirable work they do. As a result, I decided to pursue a career in education, and received my certification from the New York State Department of Education as a social studies teacher shortly after graduating from Vassar in 2022.
As a college student, a teacher, and a college counsellor, I have worked with dozens of students for several years on their college application processes, with a focus on helping them find their own voice in writing. I have a passion for building relationships with students through working with them one-on-one, and I believe in the potential of every student to succeed in their own unique way.
