Mina Yamanaka is a Graduate Coach with InGenius Prep based in New York who supports students in crafting compelling academic and extracurricular profiles and developing strategic narratives for their college applications. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Columbia University, where she cultivated a strong foundation in analytical thinking and problem-solving, equipping her to support students pursuing rigorous STEM paths.
Mina brings a unique level of discipline and leadership to her coaching as a Division I NCAA All-American and team captain of Columbia University’s Women’s Fencing Team. Her experience competing at the highest collegiate level gives her a unique perspective on performance under pressure and the importance of long-term goal setting.
Outside of academics, Mina is passionate about writing, music, fitness, and works as an assistant fencing coach. As a Graduate Coach, her mentorship philosophy centers on empowering students to pursue curiosity with intention and is especially invested in helping them transform their genuine passions into meaningful, differentiated narratives that reflect both individuality and depth.
