Danielle Bristow is a warm and dynamic Graduate Coach with an international career spanning classical violin performance, leadership, teaching, and student mentorship. She founded Waterlight Coaching in Amsterdam, where she designs outcome-based coaching trajectories for local and international clients, and she is a Registered Professional Coach with the Dutch national association for supervision and coaching. As both a musician and a coach, she values attentive listening and creative collaboration.
Danielle has more than a decade of experience guiding students with structure, strategy, and enthusiasm. She mentored more than 30 undergraduates at Northwestern through the Reformed University Fellowship, working with them on choice of major, values, identity, communication, and decision-making, and she counseled an international student through the U.S. college admissions process, advising on strategy, repertoire, and audition preparation. Her two-year coaching certification trained her in positive psychology, strengths-based coaching, the GROW method, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and motivational interviewing, and she administers assessments on career direction, stress, and coping styles.
Danielle grew up in Olympia, Washington, and has since lived in Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, and Brunei. In Jordan she was the principal second violinist of the Amman Symphony Orchestra and directed an international violin teaching studio at the National Conservatory of Music, and she has performed with the Brunei Chamber Ensemble, the UAE National Orchestra, and the Portland Chamber Orchestra, where she led the second violin section. That international career shapes the way she works with students across cultures and time zones, helping them draw on their own core values and strengths so that sessions feel motivating, personal, and constructive. She likes to challenge herself as well, and is currently learning Dutch and building grit by biking through Amsterdam in the rain.
