Ethan Luk is a Graduate Coach from Hong Kong who works with students on writing, the arts, and application storytelling. He received his A.B. from Princeton University summa cum laude, majoring in Comparative Literature with certificates in Theater, Music Theater, Dance, and Creative Writing, and holds an Artist Diploma from the Lila Acheson Wallace American Playwrights Program at The Juilliard School.
Ethan has been teaching and mentoring students since 2020. He tutored primary school students through MAST Education’s junior English program, designed curriculum and taught English for a summer bridging course at Bloom KKCA Academy, and assisted on Baker & Bloom’s college counseling program in Hong Kong. At Princeton he served as a Student Advisor at the Lewis Center for the Arts, coached Trenton Central High School students weekly in directing, acting, playwriting, and design through Trenton Arts at Princeton, and produced the Cultural Festival and the Freshman One Act Festival as a Managing Board Member of Theatre Intime. As a Community Engagement Fellow at Juilliard he designed weekly lesson plans and taught arts and literacy classes to children aged 4 to 10.
His editorial career gives him an unusually close read on a page. Ethan has written and edited for ArtAsiaPacific, BOMB Magazine, Movement Research, Para Site, and M+, doing research, copy-editing, and fact-checking on print issues and books, and he facilitated study programs and workshops at the Strother School of Radical Attention alongside its publication ATTENSITY. He works with students in the United States and internationally, bringing a collaborative, inquisitive approach that leads with kindness and warmth. He is especially focused on crafting authentic, compelling essays and narratives that represent students holistically. While applications can be daunting, he treats the process as an opportunity for growth and reflection.
