Ken Leng is a Graduate Coach and Test Prep Tutor with InGenius Prep, based in Chicago. Ken holds an M.A. in Public Policy from the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago, and a B.A. in Comparative Human Development from the University of Chicago’s College, including coursework in analytical writing, linguistic economics, and cross-disciplinary methods of critical research evaluation. Ken’s academic experiences have made them interested in continually thinking and learning about how realities and cultures are shaped by language.
Ken has over six years of work experience at the University of Chicago’s Office of Career Advancement, where they advised over a thousand undergraduate students on career development. Their comprehensive guidance has helped more than fifty students gain acceptance into prestigious graduate programs at institutions such as UChicago Harris, Vanderbilt, Duke, and Cornell. Ken’s work included helping students prepare resumes, cover letters, personal statements, research proposals, creative essays, and writing samples for internship, job, graduate school, and grant funding applications. Additionally, Ken has work experience providing students with individualized care in roles such as an after-school program teacher and a private family’s tutor. These work experiences of Ken’s have made them passionate about helping people think about their personal narrative with respect to their different backgrounds and career goals. Ken finds these aspects of their work history particularly suitable for assisting InGenius Prep students with academic essay writing for the HIR Academic Writing Contest.
