Hi! I’m Sam, a Graduate Coach at InGenius Prep.
I recently finished a PhD in Intellectual History at Johns Hopkins University, where I spent most of the last decade working as a lecturer and tutor alongside my doctoral studies. My research focuses on European history and political philosophy. I also hold an M.A. in German Studies from Johns Hopkins and a B.A. in Slavic Studies from NYU.
One of the most meaningful aspects of my academic career has been the opportunity to mentor and teach. I’ve had the pleasure of teaching seminars on a variety of important and stimulating topics, including the history of human rights, the origins of mass incarceration, and the philosophical foundations of conservative political thought. I’ve found the best way to help students develop their own voice is to use a flexible approach that meets individual personalities and backgrounds on their own terms.
College applications can be overwhelming and stressful, and it’s my hope to be able to use my experience to demystify the process. I’m excited to work together as an opportunity to reflect on yourself and your goals.
Outside of my work and research, I can be found planning elaborate interior design projects, devouring music and art, and hanging out with my cat named Frankly.
