Selene Bonczok is a Graduate Coach with an exceptional academic background in international relations and political science. A summa cum laude graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Selene was awarded the Leo S. Rowe Prize for the best thesis in international relations, as well as the Rose Undergraduate Research Award. Her research expertise spans international economics, sociology, and politics in Latin America and the Middle East.
Following her graduation in 2022, Selene gained hands-on experience at the United Nations, Amnesty International, and the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights. Selene has also extensive experience as an educator and counselor. Over the years, she has helped students from a wide range of disciplines better understand the admissions process, recognize what they bring to the table, and convey it in a way that is both authentic and memorable.
As a Graduate Coach, Selene specializes in developmental editing: beyond providing feedback, she aims to shift how her students think about the personal essay genre. Her mentees leave not only with a better draft but also with the ability to identify and dissect narrative choices in their own work and in the work of others. Outside of work, Selene performs improv comedy/improv theater, and therefore is trained in the art of spontaneous storytelling.
